**About the course**

This cutting-edge industry-led course has been developed from in-depth and ongoing industry feedback and input from all areas of production that reflects the current demand for industry ready, technically skilled students, who have the creative, logistical and production skills that are currently needed in industry. The growth in high end production for content providers such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney Plus and Apple TV in the UK supports the need for highly skilled graduates for industry. The course’s modules reflects this need for set ready professionals and has been developed to ensure that all industry production roles across all formats (including factual/documentary, drama, short form content, advertising) in all production & technical roles (including screenwriting, directing, producing, assistant directing, production design, editing & VFX, sound production & design, development & distribution) are included in our raft of industry optional modules that can be selected as a specialisation in the 2nd year.

To ensure this professionalism is embedded in the curriculum the film school acts as a production house and the tutor as an executive producer to support the collaborative film production that begins in the first year and is realised in the graduation films in the students final year. MetFilm School is uniquely positioned amongst other higher education institutions in that students receive budgets to fund their projects throughout the entire three years of the course, supporting the development of high quality films through professional actors, hiring of locations and art direction.

As film production is continuously evolving, the BA Hons Filmmaking course content is constantly adapting to support the industry’s demands. The course’s intensive curriculum will challenge students to develop their skills and prepare them for the production world of today. Students will gain experience shooting projects on the newest developments in HD, film and digital equipment - from Arri Alexa to Red Raven - as well as classic film cameras like Panavision and Arriflex on super 16mm and 35mm film.

The development of practical film production skills is supported by a film theory strand which provides students with a critical understanding of applied film theory and ensures that students will enter the industry as an informed practitioner.

As student’s progress into the final year of study, students will become highly-trained professionals in their chosen field and ready to take on a key technical or production role in the Production Realisation module (graduation film).

Industry engagement is at the heart of the film school. Alongside the course and curriculum, students benefit from over 200 connections across the UK meaning our students gain the skills, experience, contacts and confidence to thrive in the film industry through work experience, internships and paid freelance work.

All students will graduate with a professional portfolio of work, which will serve as a calling card for their skills. Students also gain an understanding of how to navigate the film industry which will support the technical and creative film craft skills that will be acquired.
