Our BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting course is recognised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and offers graduates the opportunity to gain a prestigious financial accounting degree and be considered a part-qualified accountant.<br/><br/>This is achieved by giving you the opportunity to gain maximum exemptions from all nine ACCA papers at the Fundamentals level (F1-F9). In addition, you can also obtain exemptions from up to 7 modules from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). You can also obtain membership at various levels with the IFA.<br/><br/>Our BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting degree is led by a dedicated and experienced course team. Benefit from their industry knowledge and the industry links they bring to the course. Many of our guest lecturers are industry-experts and alongside your lecturers, they’ll nurture your learning and professional development.<br/><br/>As well as this we offer a mix of industry inspired modules, including: financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, auditing, taxation, and strategic management. Each topic has been deliberately designed to blend together, to give you an understanding of finance and accounting and the topical issues affecting the industry. <br/><br/>This course has a shared first year across multiple specialisms. After your first year, if you want to study a different specialism you can choose to change between BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting and BA (Hons) Finance and Business.<br/><br/>This course includes an initial Foundation Year. The Foundation Year will allow you to develop your academic study skills and build confidence in your abilities, identifying your own strengths and development needs for progression onto an undergraduate programme.<br/><br/>**What will I study?**<br/>We are focused on providing you with all the building blocks you need to create a solid understanding of the financial accounting and business environments. Your first year will be integrated with the BA (Hons) Finance and Business course. You will be taught a range of modules that cover both courses allowing you to collaborate with fellow students.<br/><br/>During your second year you will study advance management accounting and be introduced to UK taxation. You will also be introduced to financial reporting. This module will teach you how to apply accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities. <br/><br/>You’ll learn to apply, analyse and evaluate the principles and theories you have learned and be able to reference and apply them to contemporary situations. By putting your knowledge into practice, you’ll feel confidence and well-equipped for your future career. <br/><br/>In your final year, you will focus on preparing yourself for life after BNU. You will learn about international finance, UK corporation tax and move onto advanced financial reporting. You will also complete a major piece of independent research that will enhance your employability within the finance and accounting industry.<br/><br/>**What are my career prospects?** <br/>There has always been a big demand for qualified specialists in accounting and finance. You can expect to graduate with a variety of rewarding career options ahead of you.
