During the foundation year, youll learn about core aspects of performing arts and gain skills to prepare you to study at degree level.<br/><br/>If you’re interested in a broad range of performance areas such as dance, drama, vocal studies or creative theatre production then this course is for you.<br/><br/>You will pursue a variety of subjects spanning a wide range of Performing Arts activities covering performance, technical operation, management and design. This will give you the flexibility to develop your art as you get to grips with the realities and practicalities of performance and production.<br/><br/>Theres a strong practical element to the degree and youll be able to refine your artistic talents in dedicated performance spaces that are designed to inspire you.<br/><br/>Youll be learning from specialist tutors who have been professional practitioners in music, dance, drama and theatre production. They have excellent working relationships with the creative industries in and around our lively arts community and theyll share their experiences with you and give you opportunities to connect with other professionals.<br/><br/>The flexible nature of the course means you can tailor some of your learning to topics that most interest you by choosing from optional modules. Graduate Outcomes Survey 2022<br/>Youll examine the industry as a whole, gaining an understanding of performance, management, design and production.<br/><br/>Specialist facilities<br/>Along with excellent performance venues, you’ll have access to the Anselm building which houses two studio spaces that are perfect for theatre, dance and music.<br/><br/>Studio 1 – is a modern studio equipped with theatre standard drapes, a lighting rig, and sound system. It contains a state-of-the-art professional standard technical booth for controlling lighting and sound, providing a superb view of the studio.<br/>Studio 2 – is a flexible space, equipped with sprung floor, mirrors, sound system and full soundproofing.<br/><br/>Location<br/>This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat. A short walk away is Augustine House our award-winning library and home to a vast range of learning resources and student support teams.
