It develops knowledge and understanding of the industry and individual animals as well as developing the research skills that are invaluable for working within a zoo or research environment.<br/><br/>This is a stimulating and challenging programme of study that will be both engaging and memorable for students within this discipline. It provides the essential subject knowledge that students need to progress successfully into further study or the world of work. The course content closely aligns with Professional Body, employer, and higher education needs. Furthermore, the qualification is designed to meet the needs and expectations of students aspiring to work in an international Animal Management environment.<br/><br/>With strong links with Dudley Zoo, Brockswood Animal Sanctuary, The Owl and Falconry Centre and The Animal Man group, students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of work and animal experiences to enhance their learning throughout the programme.<br/><br/>**Entry Requirements:**<br/>You will need to have UCAS points 64 through one of the following routes: BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management (MMP or above) A levels, to include Biology or Access to HE Science. Plus GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or above.<br/><br/>**Course content:**<br/>Units include:<br/>Business Environment <br/>Animal Husbandry Management <br/>Animal Health and Welfare <br/>Research Project <br/>Animal Nutrition<br/>Anatomy and Physiology<br/>Principles of Ecology<br/>Exotics and the pet trade<br/><br/>**Assessment:**<br/>This course is assessed through a series of written assignments with some practical work and presentations.<br/><br/>**Materials/Additional costs:**<br/>You will need to have sturdy, waterproof footwear such as boots and warm clothing and PPE for practical work.<br/><br/>**Progression:**<br/>Successful completion of this course would enable progression to an HND Animal Management programme or second year of a degree programme.
