Our Computer Science and Physics degree will provide you with sought-after analytical and problem-solving capabilities relevant for a career in a variety of industries.

**Why choose this course?**

- Tackle an open-ended, research-focused physics project in your final year

- Accreditation pathway available in Physics

- Use a variety of industry-standard equipment including supercomputer facilities and a VR lab

- Develop core practical skills in Keeles state-of-the-art Central Science Laboratories (CSL)

Computer Science at Keele is informed by research and benefits from close interaction with industry, including industrial guest lectures in certain modules. Initial study topics explore the fundamental concepts and techniques for modern, professional programming which will become more advanced throughout your degree programme. This includes areas such as games programming, artificial intelligence and cyber security, with the consideration of cutting edge research in AI and machine learning. You will also have the opportunity to further specialise in your studies and apply the techniques you have learnt, through a final year project.

Physics equips you with the quantitative, analytic and communication skills needed for analysing data and solving problems, which are prized by employers in industries such as power, nuclear electronics, IT and data-mining. The programme is underpinned by a core physics curriculum as set out by the Institute of Physics. This includes, for example, the fundamentals of classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, optics and solid state physics. Our programme will provide you with a solid grounding in the underpinning theory and plenty of hands-on practical experience in Keeles state-of-the-art laboratories.

**About Keele**

Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University.
