Learn to support athletes’ competitive performance, recovery, and overall health by providing them with specialist and evidence-based nutritional advice.<br/><br/>As part of this course, you’ll:<br/>• Study an academically challenging and vocationally relevant programme, underpinned by evidence-based practice<br/>• Gain a thorough understanding of the multidisciplinary aspects of sport and exercise nutrition<br/>• Study the principles and applications of sport and exercise nutrition in practice<br/>• Explore scientific concepts that promote an understanding of issues in the study of sport and exercise nutrition<br/><br/>SENR accredited<br/>This course is accredited by the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENR), the national register for qualified sport and exercise nutritionists. <br/><br/>Alternative study options<br/>As well as the PG Dip Sport and Exercise Nutrition (120 credits), we offer other postgraduate study routes in Sport and Exercise Nutrition which can be studied full-time or part-time:<br/>• MSc Sport & Exercise Nutrition (180 credits)<br/>• PG Cert Sport & Exercise Nutrition (60 credits)<br/>• PG Cert Sport & Exercise Nutrition for Healthcare Practitioners (60 credits). This course is delivered on weekends, to suit healthcare professionals looking to fit in study around work<br/><br/>Specialist facilities<br/>You’ll learn in the university’s new state-of-the-art Carnegie School of Sport building. Explore our facilities, including videos and a virtual tour. The building houses a wealth of outstanding facilities including: <br/>• Dedicated research laboratories<br/>• Nutrition laboratories <br/>• Body composition laboratories, including dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry [DXA]<br/>• Environmental chambers<br/>• Enhanced physiology laboratories <br/>• Enhanced strength and conditioning spaces <br/>• Biochemistry laboratories<br/>• Indoor sprint track and rooftop walking track and terrace<br/><br/>Build your experience<br/>Alongside building your subject-specific knowledge, you’ll develop practical and soft skills. You’ll practise using your expertise through a variety of physiology labs, nutrition workshops and other applied sessions. This course will enable you to gain real-world experience working to support a case study. In addition, you’ll have opportunities to apply for work in an applied sport science setting with elite athletes under the guidance of a registered SENR practitioner. This will enable you to develop professional skills relevant to a variety of work-related settings.
