Geography and Information Technology (with Foundation Year) BSc (Hons)

**This is a four year degree taught at our Hope Park campus. The Foundation Year aims to develop your skills so that after a year, you will be equipped with the necessary skills needed for studying the full BA Hons degree programme.**<br/><br/>**Geography**<br/>Geography is about exploring, encountering and engaging with the world around us. It is a dynamic and exciting subject to study. It looks at how the physical world works; how people interact both with each other and with the physical world; how landscapes (both physical and human) evolve; and the ways in which the environment needs to be conserved and managed. <br/><br/>Geography covers many different perspectives and brings them together to create a distinctive way of understanding the world. Whether your interests are more towards physical, environmental or human geography, our degree offers you the chance to develop an integrated, enriched understanding of what is taking place on our planet. Studying Geography means you will look at a wide range of different topics and learn a broad range of skills. For this reason, a Geography degree is one of the most valued subjects among potential employers.<br/><br/>**Information Technology**<br/>Our Information Technology degree prepares you to meet the needs of a wide range of organisations, emphasising the development of a variety of technologies, especially web and mobile technologies that are increasingly becoming a part of our everyday lives. During your studies, you will have opportunities to develop computational thinking and a systems approach to formulating, analysing and solving complex problems.<br/><br/>The degree is intellectually challenging and is taught by staff with a varied background and a diverse range of interests. Your student experience is enhanced by a rich curriculum that exposes you to multiple approaches to technological problems. Information Technology has a wide-reaching social impact, posing many ethical questions, and these issues are explored at various points during the degree.
