This doctorate will enable you to become a registered educational psychologist in the UK. It is accredited by the BPS and approved by the HCPC.<br/><br/>Educational psychology is about the study and understanding of peoples behaviour and the inter-relationship this has with organisational structures within educational and community settings.<br/><br/>The course will suit those with some understanding of educational systems and settings. You will learn how to support the social and educational development of children and young people aged 0-25 years. You will also learn how to work with other professionals, such as teachers.<br/><br/>The programme emphasises the need to apply psychology critically in order to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. We emphasise development as taking place within a social context and this influences the psychology we draw upon.<br/><br/>Educational Psychologists (EP) work with:<br/><br/>individual children<br/>young people<br/>parents<br/>carers/teachers/other agencies.<br/><br/>The work involves supporting individuals and working at the organisational level to facilitate the learning and wellbeing of children and young people. Along with all BPS accredited EP training programmes we draw upon a wide range of psychology.<br/><br/>2020 entry Open Day<br/>Our Doctorate of Applied Educational Psychology 2020 Open Day is being held on Saturday 19 October 2019, 11am – 2pm.<br/><br/>**Course aims**<br/><br/>Our aims are to:<br/><br/>promote the fullest possible inclusive education and social inclusion<br/>mitigate the effects of impairment, social and economic deprivation and disadvantage.<br/><br/>During the first year there is an emphasis on the development of professional criticality and self-reflection and the acquisition of process skills including the use of:<br/><br/>supervision<br/>consultation<br/>solution-oriented practices<br/>narrative practices<br/>dynamic assessment.<br/><br/>You undertake placements in educational and community settings and study four taught modules which cover:<br/><br/>key issues of inclusion and diversity<br/>working in partnership<br/>learning and social environments<br/>frameworks for practice.<br/><br/>During your training you also undertake research projects. These include:<br/><br/>a systematic review of published research in a relevant field<br/>an empirical study presented as a paper for an appropriate peer reviewed journal.<br/><br/>You maintain a practice portfolio that chronicles and evidences your professional development during each year of the course.
