The course provides the chance to develop as an original artist in order to achieve a wide-ranging knowledge of the performing arts industry and give your future career a dynamic head start.** <br/><br/>**Please Note: Applicants for this course must already have attained (or expect to achieve) a full Level 4 dance-related qualification (such as a Higher National Certificate, Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent).**<br/><br/>**This course is provided by Expressions Academy of Performing Arts in Mansfield in partnership with Nottingham College.**<br/><br/>**About the course**<br/><br/>The Level 5 HND course has been designed to develop students knowledge and skills in areas such as choreography, audition preparation, company working and the contextualisation of dance. It focuses primarily on practical learning and skills development in a wide variety of dance disciplines.<br/><br/>**Modules are planned to include:**<br/><br/>-Unit 32 - Creative Research Project (Mandatory)<br/>-Unit 33 - Working in the Performing Arts Industry (Mandatory)<br/>-Unit 34 - Jazz Dance 2 (Mandatory)<br/>-Unit 36 - Contemporary Dance 2 <br/>-Unit 37 - Commercial Dance 2 <br/>-Unit 39 - Dance for Musical Theatre <br/>-Unit 52 - Performance Project <br/><br/>**Assessment**<br/><br/>Assessment is continuous, providing a range of evidence of your learning. This will include: practical demonstrations and live performances, essays, journals/log books, rehearsal evidence, video evidence, presentations, group projects and e portfolios.<br/><br/>**Qualification awarded**<br/><br/>Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) awarded by Pearson<br/><br/>**Bursaries**<br/><br/>We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2025-26 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.<br/><br/>**Your career and progression**<br/><br/>After successfully completing the HND in Dance, you could top-up to our Level 6 BA (Hons) Performing Arts, awarded by Nottingham Trent University or a similar course at another provider (subject to entry requirements) or enter into employment. <br/><br/>Previous Academy graduates have gone on to work in theatres in the West End, UK and abroad; film and TV, cruise ships, holiday venues, community arts projects or into choreography/teaching.
