Students will learn about operational practice as well as the strategic development of the UK, European and international hospitality industries.**<br/><br/>**Whether you are new to hospitality or have relevant previous experience and want to widen your horizons, this highly-regarded and globally-recognised qualification could enhance your future career prospects.**<br/><br/>**This course is subject to validation with a first intake planned for September 2025.**<br/><br/>**Applicants will already hold (or be expected to achieve) a full Level 4 qualification in a related subject area.**<br/><br/>**About the course**<br/><br/>The Level 5 course gives students the opportunity to specialise in a hospitality management-related area and to progress to degree-level study. The units prepare students to move on to specific areas of hospitality management at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision-making.<br/><br/>**Level 5 units are planned to include:**<br/><br/>-Research Project<br/>-Hospitality Interpersonal Skills<br/>-The Hospitality Consumer Behaviour and Insight<br/>-Digital Marketing<br/>-Strategic Human Resource Management<br/>-Launching a New Business<br/><br/>The other 2 units allow students to study a strand of the hospitality industry in more detail - either Culinary Arts or Front of House:<br/><br/>-Food Innovation (Culinary)<br/>-Barista to Bar Management (Hospitality)<br/><br/>Facilities<br/><br/>**Facilities**<br/><br/>This course will be based at the colleges new £58 million City Hub campus, near Nottingham train station. The campus opened in 2021 and features state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, with our award-winning ‘Fletcher’s’ restaurant, café and live performing arts venue.<br/><br/>**Assessment**<br/><br/>A wide variety of innovative and traditional methods will be used including: practical assignments, portfolios of evidence, data analysis, case studies, written reports, essays, presentations, work-based evidence with employer statements.<br/><br/>**Qualification awarded**<br/><br/>Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management <br/><br/>**Bursaries**<br/><br/>We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2025-26 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website for more information.<br/><br/>**Your career and progression**<br/><br/>Graduates will be well-placed to continue their studies with a Level 6 top-up degree in a related subject or to seek employment in the global hospitality sector.. Graduates will have excellent employment prospects in hospitality and catering disciplines, for example: the events industry, food and beverage management, pubs, clubs and restaurant management, corporate hospitality, conference and banqueting . Career opportunities are available in hotels, restaurants, cruise ships and event venues. The course covers both front and back of house so provides opportunities in kitchen management and product development.
