It is taught in tandem with the other MSc routes (medics, physiotherapists and osteopaths) and allows integration across the differing clinical backgrounds.<br/><br/>This programme will:<br/><br/><br/>- Offer you mastery of foundation concepts and skills in Sports and Exercise Medicine.<br/><br/><br/>- Give you the knowledge and skills to assess sports injuries and to understand their treatment options, as well as understanding the physiological and psychological benefits of exercise and its use as a health tool.<br/><br/><br/>- Allow you regular clinical contact with athletes and sportspeople.<br/><br/><br/>- Introduce you to visiting lecturers, who are experts in the field of Sports Medicine.<br/><br/><br/>The programme is delivered within Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) that is part of the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London,. This places the programme at the forefront of provision of Podiatric Sports Medicine (PSM) within the UK. Working in sport is a largely practical discipline and the programmes emphasis lies firmly on regular clinical experience. Students will benefit from regular contact with all members of Sports and Exercise Medicine team at Queen Mary, as well as visiting clinicians and lecturers who are experienced Sports Medicine specialists.<br/><br/>Lectures are delivered by national and international experts; from cutting edge basic scientists to podiatric surgeons, sports physicians, physiotherapists and other health professionals working with world-class athletes. Our staff will work closely with students on the MSc route to nurture potential research interests and with all podiatry students to develop their clinical ability in Sports and Exercise Medicine.<br/><br/>Course content covers detailed assessment and management of sports injuries of the lower limb, especially the foot, ankle and lower leg, with imaging in sports medicine to assist in clinical decision making.
