Mechanical Engineering encompasses the design, construction and operation of machines, structures and industrial plant used in a very wide range of industries. <br/><br/>Mechanical engineers are constantly striving to produce safer, durable, cheaper, useful and more efficient machines and mechanical systems to benefit us all.<br/><br/>These can range from small components to extremely large plant, machinery or vehicles. Mechanical engineers must have the ability to work methodically and logically to solve real-life problems in the face of conflicting requirements.<br/><br/>The different pathways that are available on this degree will allow you to choose the engineering subjects you are interested in, and customise the course to meet your own particular interests and career aspirations. The first two years are common to all three of our Mechanical Engineering courses. At the end of year 2, you can make an informed decision about which route you wish to follow.
