**About this Course**<br/><br/>This course provides advanced technical knowledge through general engineering principles, concepts and theory that includes both mechanical and electrical principles. You will also be encouraged to develop your technical, vocational and general engineering skills to equip you for a range of related occupations. <br/><br/>Rotherham College and North Notts College have invested in new equipment and facilities, including mechatronics, PLC facilities, and metallurgy and science laboratories, with a further investment in the new engineering workshop facilities. The full-time HNC in General Engineering is designed to provide you with new opportunities including: Career development, Improved salary, Increased job satisfaction, Personal achievement<br/><br/>Studying the HNC in General Engineering at either college means that you are able to study a nationally-recognised Higher Education qualification locally. <br/>The programme is a new QCF-approved Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) Certificate with Pearson BTEC as the awarding body.<br/><br/>The HNC lasts for one year and if you choose to take the HNC route you can top this up to the HND (Higher National Diploma) Level 5, by staying on at the College to complete the second year of the HND and can be studied at both our North Notts College and Rotherham College. Providing preparation for a range of technical and management careers in mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering.<br/><br/>These courses will also enhance career opportunities and help meet aspirations to become a supervisor or manager.<br/><br/>**Modules Covered:**<br/><br/>**Level 4** <br/><br/>**Semester 1**<br/><br/>-Engineering Maths<br/><br/>-Engineering Science <br/><br/>-Materials, Properties and Testing<br/><br/>**Semester 2**<br/><br/>-Mechanical Principles<br/><br/>-Electrical and Electronic Principles<br/><br/>-Mechatronics<br/><br/>**Semester 3**<br/><br/>-Managing a Professional Engineering Project <br/><br/>-Engineering Design<br/><br/>**Progression**<br/>- Upon successful completion of these courses, you could go into employment as an electrical or mechanical engineer or other related engineering occupations.<br/><br/><br/>- Progress onto further study to complete the HND Level 5 in General Engineering. <br/><br/><br/>**Entry Requirements** <br/>- A relevant Level 3 qualification<br/><br/>If you do not meet these requirements please contact us as we are able to consider applicants with other qualifications, relevant experience or personal circumstances on an individual basis.
