**Please check the Sheffield Hallam University website for the latest information.** <br/><br/>**Course summary**<br/>- Develop your understanding of current best practice in the leading edge technologies, processes and systems of mechanical engineering.<br/><br/><br/>- Enhance your employability through achieving higher-level technical knowledge and personal skills.<br/><br/><br/>- Study on a course that meets the Engineering Council’s UK-SPEC requirements for further learning.<br/><br/><br/>- Meet the academic requirements for Chartered Engineering (CEng) status.<br/><br/><br/>- Qualify on a course accredited by the IMechE.<br/><br/><br/>This course is suitable for you if you wish to develop your technical expertise in mechanical engineering and is ideal if you are preparing to move to a more technically demanding role.<br/><br/>**How you learn**<br/>All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.<br/><br/>You will study a combination of technical modules addressing advanced aspects of mechanical engineering, complemented by two management modules and a masters project.<br/><br/>Optional modules are in the subject areas of manufacturing, design, design analysis (i.e. element analysis) and sustainability, energy and environmental management.<br/><br/>You learn through:<br/><br/><br/>- lectures<br/><br/><br/>- seminars<br/><br/><br/>- tutorials<br/><br/><br/>- laboratory sessions<br/><br/><br/>- problem solving<br/><br/><br/>- critical reflection<br/><br/><br/>- independent study<br/><br/><br/>- group project work<br/><br/><br/>- coursework<br/><br/><br/>- assessments<br/><br/><br/>There are opportunities to study abroad at one of our partner universities with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus+ programme (until 2023) or the Turing Scheme.<br/><br/>**Applied learning<br/>Live projects**<br/><br/>We encourage you to learn through the application of theories, concepts and knowledge to real-life situations (such as your own organisation) or by using case studies.<br/><br/>Our part time students can find that their masters projects are typically of significant importance to their companies and can raise their profile in the organisation.<br/><br/>The international product development module involves working in multidisciplinary teams to develop a new product in a global market. This develops much sought after advanced technical and business skills. The project provides a supported environment to develop your ability in an area of your interest.<br/><br/>**Competitions**<br/><br/>You can design, build and fly a remote-controlled aircraft as part of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Challenge in Snowdonia.<br/><br/>Apply to design, build and race a car as part of the Formula Student competition. This year our SHURacing team had its best ever performance.
