From January 2025 you will study in brand new facilities at City campus.**<br/><br/>**Course summary**<br/><br/><br/>- Gain research skills and a professional level of understanding in psychology.<br/><br/><br/>- Understand how we develop through the human lifespan.<br/><br/><br/>- Study infancy, childhood and adolescence into adulthood and old age.<br/><br/><br/>- Explore stability and change in our physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.<br/><br/><br/>This course is designed to give you a solid foundational knowledge in the core areas of psychology – particularly as applied within a developmental context. You’ll cover the core areas of psychology as identified by the British Psychological Society (BPS). You’ll also gain a graduate basis for chartered membership (GBC) of the society.<br/><br/>**How you learn**<br/><br/>All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.<br/><br/>The course is designed around your career – so you’ll attend university just one day a week. As a career progression route and conversion course, this programme is specifically designed to provide you with the core academic and subject-specific skills you’ll need to access postgraduate training courses for a career in psychology – particularly if you’d like a career in teaching or with specific age groups.<br/><br/>You learn through<br/><br/><br/>- lectures<br/><br/><br/>- seminars<br/><br/><br/>- workshops<br/><br/><br/>- presentations<br/><br/><br/>- self-directed study<br/><br/><br/>**Applied learning**<br/><br/>**Live projects**<br/><br/>Lectures on the course are primarily focused on core knowledge and theoretical content – while seminars and workshops provide the opportunity for you to apply understanding through discussion and practical-based activities. You’ll complete a large-scale research project under the supervision of a member of staff, which allows you to put the psychological knowledge and research skills youve honed over the degree into practice.<br/><br/>You may be offered the opportunity to assist with undergraduate teaching and/or staff research projects (subject to availability). This will especially suit those interested in a career in academia. There’ll also be many other opportunities for volunteering within the university and through other organisations.<br/><br/>**Networking opportunities**<br/><br/>The course helps you make the necessary links between the skills you’re developing and those that are required by professionals in psychology. To help, we offer a series of tutorials that promote reflective skills – as well as more fundamental employability skills such as identifying the kind of jobs that the course opens up to you, writing CVs, etc. <br/><br/>You’ll also meet alumni to learn from their career progression route.
