We are one of the few universities in the UK that offer September and January start dates for almost all of our courses.<br/><br/><br/>- Based in Buckingham on a riverside campus, we are only 20 minutes’ from Milton Keynes central station and a short drive from Bicester, Aylesbury, Banbury and Northampton. Alternatively, you can complete both your undergraduate and master’s degree with us in just three years: saving you time and money.<br/><br/><br/> The underlying philosophy of the LLM is to develop specialists in the field of International and Commercial Law. The programme attracts students from a wide variety of backgrounds with different experiences. It stresses the importance of interaction between staff and student, as well as between student and student. We believe this is an essential element in the development of effective lawyers in this area.<br/><br/><br/>Following successful completion of the LLM in International and Commercial Law, you should have developed a range of skills, which include:<br/>- A sound understanding of each of the chosen areas of the law<br/><br/><br/>- Confidence in the analysis of complex case-law<br/><br/><br/>- The ability to make your argument convincingly, orally and in writing<br/><br/><br/>- The ability to take a co-operative approach to problem solving<br/><br/><br/>**Specialist designations**<br/>Students can select specific modules to have their LLM designated as specialising in:<br/>- International Trade and Maritime Law;<br/><br/><br/>- Corporate Law<br/><br/><br/>- Financial Services Law<br/><br/><br/>Each designation requires the following to be taken:<br/>- 20 unit Advanced Legal Research module;<br/><br/><br/>- 40 unit core module; and<br/><br/><br/>- 120 units of optional modules.<br/><br/><br/>Start dates<br/>Students may take the LLM over:<br/>- 12 months starting in September; or<br/><br/><br/>- 9 months starting in January.<br/><br/><br/>September start<br/>The September start allows students to take more time to adjust to postgraduate studies. In the first term students must take the Advanced Legal Research module and choose Money Laundering, Offshore Banking and Asset Recovery, Commercial Conflict of Laws, or Law of World Trade. All the modules are then available from January onwards, subject always to there being sufficient students opting for them
