You will not only develop your knowledge of core areas of Psychology including social, biological, and developmental but also explore topics such as Education, SEND (Special educational needs and disabilities), and neurodiversity.<br/><br/>Your exploration will be aided by our academics who are involved in cutting-edge psychology research. Their specialisms cover fascinating and evolving areas, such as student learning styles, addiction, and gender-based stereotypes in children. <br/><br/>You will also have opportunities to learn from guest speakers and experts from the field who can share their experiences as practising psychologists. <br/><br/>We offer a supportive environment for your studies and you will benefit from an open-door policy, with staff available for academic and pastoral help if required. You will also have a personal tutor to work with you throughout your degree and year leads who can advise on specific aspects of that level of study. <br/><br/>Additionally, we provide work experience and employability opportunities throughout your degree preparing you for your future career path. This type of experiential learning will help you relate your theoretical knowledge to real-world practice. <br/><br/>Past students have completed their work experience in a range of settings, including: <br/>- victim support schemes<br/><br/><br/>- drug support schemes<br/><br/><br/>- after-school clubs<br/><br/><br/>- market research.<br/><br/><br/>You will also have access to dedicated lab spaces, specialised equipment, and software that will bring your learning to life. You will use our computer labs for small group teaching and gain practical research skills including: <br/><br/><br/>- experiment building software<br/><br/><br/>- BIOPACS<br/><br/><br/>- observation labs<br/><br/><br/>- eye-tracking units with biofeedback integration capability<br/><br/><br/>- virtual reality<br/><br/><br/>- Electroencephalography (EEG)<br/><br/><br/>- cognitive ability tests.<br/><br/><br/>Once you complete this course, you can apply for Chartered Membership of the BPS on a Graduate basis. This can open up further opportunities for advanced studies in any area of psychology or further specialising in Educational Psychology or in educational practice.
