Sport Psychology BSc (Hons)

Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) since 1986, our psychology courses are one of the longest-established in the UK. We take a contemporary approach to learning and teaching providing small group teaching and interactive sessions throughout your studies. You will study both core BPS content and innovative modules that explore current developments in the fields of sport and exercise psychology.<br/><br/>You will also benefit from our cutting-edge psychology research facilities including:<br/><br/><br/>- brain imaging electroencephalogram (EEG)<br/><br/><br/>- eye tracking equipment<br/><br/><br/>- virtual reality<br/><br/><br/>- dedicated lab spaces and specialised equipment with a team of onsite support technicians.<br/><br/><br/>You will also have the opportunity to apply your learning through work experience and conduct your own research working one-to-one with one of our psychology academics.<br/><br/>This psychology degree will cover the breadth of this exciting discipline. From the start, you will not only develop your knowledge of core psychological science, but you will also explore specific topics in sport exercise psychology including applications and research.<br/><br/>Your exploration will be aided by our academics who are involved in cutting-edge psychology research. Their specialisms cover fascinating and evolving areas, such as athlete personality, addiction and gender-based violence.<br/><br/>You will also have opportunities to learn from guest speakers and experts from the field who can share their experiences as practising psychologists.<br/><br/>We offer a supportive environment for your studies and you will benefit from an open-door policy, with staff available for academic and pastoral help if you need it. You will also have a personal tutor to work with you throughout your degree.<br/><br/>Additionally, we provide work experience and employability opportunities throughout your degree preparing you for your future career path. This type of experiential learning will help you relate your theoretical knowledge to real-world practice. You will use our computer labs for small group teaching and gain practical research skills including:<br/><br/><br/>- Experiment building software <br/><br/><br/>- BIOPACS<br/><br/><br/>- Observation labs<br/><br/><br/>- Eye-tracking units with biofeedback integration capability<br/><br/><br/>- Virtual Reality<br/><br/><br/>- Electroencephalography (EEG)<br/><br/><br/>- Cognitive ability tests<br/><br/><br/>Once you complete this course, which can be studied on a full or part-time basis, you can apply for Chartered Membership of the BPS on a Graduate basis. This can open up further opportunities for advanced studies in any area of psychology or further specialising in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
