This Pearson programme was developed with industry partners including the Ministry of Building Innovation and Education. Buildings use about 40% of global energy, 25% of global water and 40% of global resources in their construction and operation. As a result, sustainable energy systems are often incorporated into the design of new construction projects. <br/><br/>By the end of Level 4, in addition to having a sound knowledge of the basic concepts of construction, students will have developed an understanding of the significance and impact of new digital technologies on construction. You will be equipped to meet the needs of employers in the construction sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. <br/><br/>In addition to developing your knowledge of Construction principles, you will also have had the opportunity to focus on the research and design of alternative energy systems and have assessed new technologies available to the construction industry. Background knowledge and understanding of Building Information modelling (BIM) will be gained; the drivers, benefits and its importance in the context of current roles and responsibilities in the construction industry. Students will also explore different approaches to off-site construction including modular construction, factory construction, automation and robotics and 3D printing.
