**Psychology** is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. It is about understanding how people think, act, react and interact; and how this understanding can help us, as psychologists, help people on an individual basis but also help address wider societal issues through academic endeavours and professional practice.<br/><br/>The possible pathways a degree in psychology can take you on are endless, such is the value of the graduate and psychological literacy and analytical skills you acquire during the degree.<br/><br/>Our school brings together world-leading expertise in experimental psychology, cognitive science and cognitive neuroscience in order to advance the understanding of human and animal behaviour.<br/><br/>**Scottish Literature** is the study of the poetry, drama, fiction and prose of Scotland from the 14th century to the most contemporary work.<br/><br/>The University hosts the only academic unit in the UK exclusively dedicated to the teaching of, and research into, Scottish literature. We are home to the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, which is engaged in the production of a new, multi-volume, scholarly edition of the works of Scotland’s national poet.
