**This three years degree programme will set you up for a rewarding career where you can develop knowledge and leadership skills to shape the future of societies and the environment we live in.**

By taking this programme you will be joining a university that is 1st class rated by the people and planet university league for our environmental and ethical performance. You will develop the skills and knowledge required by civil engineers to design, build, and manage small and large civil and construction projects, including major infrastructure. These skills will be acquired through a project-based learning approach and informed by our industrial partners.

Our strong links to the construction industry will help you develop essential technical and professional skills by working collaboratively on real projects, giving you a head start in the job market.

Knowledge will be scaffolded through the different stages of the programme, when you will study core civil and construction topics, such as structural mechanics, hydraulics, geotechnics, materials, and construction management, as well as topics addressing emerging challenges to improve humanities and the environment.

Our curriculum is research informed and delivered by academics who are experts in their fields, working on cutting edge projects. This means our students are better informed and well prepared for the workplace. The programme was developed with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in mind, with the school putting more focus on the following three goals: Goal 7- Affordable and clean energy, Goal 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure, Goal 11 – Sustainable cities and communities, and Goal 13 – Climate action.

In the first year, as well as taking core civil and construction engineering modules, students will also take other modules that are common to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and computer engineering programmes. This helps them develop an overall understanding of the engineering profession, and work on multi-disciplinary projects to develop technology integration skills.

In the second-year students build on the knowledge and skills learnt in year one but taking core modules that are essential to the subject area. In year 3 students will apply the skills developed in the previous two year to deliver real projects. Design elements are scaffolded through the three stages of the programme, at suitable level for IEng programmes, combined with extended application of technology.

The programme is supported by invited external experts from industry and site visits. It is also supported by state-of-the-art laboratories, equipped with modern industrial scale test facilities, including the largest slab test facility in Europe, and modern instrumentation, including 3D laser scanners for surveying.

**What you should know about this course**
- Ranked Top UK Uni by StudentCrowd 2024.

- We are a diverse and inclusive community of students, researchers and academics and we welcome a wide range of students from many different backgrounds.

- Youll study in Medway in Kent, a great location with fantastic transport links.
