All applications for entry to this course must to be made via the Clearing House for Postgraduate Courses in Clinical Psychology through the website: http://www.leeds.ac.uk/chpccp/.<br/><br/>Graduate from this programme and youll be eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status, allowing you to practise as a Clinical Psychologist within the NHS.<br/><br/>The content provides a theoretical introduction to a wide range of clinical problems and approaches, together with basic clinical skills and a variety of practical experiences. There are places for up to 23 trainees per year.<br/><br/>This is a three-year, full-time programme offering clinical placements throughout the year, an academic course and research requirements including a 25,000 word dissertation.<br/><br/>The order of placements is shown in the table below.<br/><br/>Local NHS clinical psychology services on Merseyside offer a particularly rich variety of specialist placements and wed urge you to gain as much experience as you can within them.<br/><br/>This could include:-<br/>- Ashworth High Secure Hospital<br/><br/><br/>- the Windsor Clinic (Addictions)<br/><br/><br/>- the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery<br/><br/><br/>You can also work with individual practitioners in other areas including:-<br/>- family therapy<br/><br/><br/>- paediatric liaison<br/><br/><br/>- brain injury rehabilitation<br/><br/><br/>- spinal injury<br/><br/><br/>- eating disorders.<br/><br/><br/>As an option you can undertake a twelve-month specialist placement in Year Three. It may also be possible to combine two of the shorter placements into a second 12-month specialist child and family placement.<br/><br/>**Career Opportunities**<br/><br/>The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme has an excellent record for full employment of graduates, who are eligible to work as clinical psychologists within the NHS. This is an expanding profession and graduates will have the opportunity to work within a variety of different settings within the NHS.
