This provides a solid foundation for advanced mathematics and the remarkable physics of:<br/><br/>general relativity<br/>quantum gravity<br/>black holes<br/>differential geometry<br/>particle physics<br/>quantum field theory<br/>quantum information<br/>cosmology and the early universe<br/>Youll be taught by world-leading researchers from the Nottingham Centre of Gravity (NCoG).<br/><br/>Straddling the Schools of Mathematical Sciences and Physics and Astronomy, the centre is focused on six pillars of modern research; fundamental physics, mathematics, cosmology, relativistic astrophysics, experiment and modelling.<br/><br/>This MSc is closely linked to that research programme, with particular emphasis on all aspects of gravity, cosmology, and particle physics. As a postgraduate member of NCoG you will be part of a vibrant academic community and be introduced to contemporary ideas via weekly research seminars by external speakers. You will also attend regular colloquia, delivered by renowned international researchers and bi-termly NCoG workshops.<br/><br/>Many of the lecturers are celebrated science communicators who present on award-winning YouTube channels such as Numberphile and Sixty Symbols. They have also written popular science books (Fantastic numbers and where to find them) and feature on Netflix documentaries .<br/><br/>A highlight of the masters is the research dissertation which allows you to work directly with one of our experienced researchers on a topic of current interest. This could range from quantum gravity or cosmic inflation to gravitational waves or creating analogue black holes in the lab. This masters is excellent preparation for a PhD in a related area. For those currently in employment, the MSc provides a route back to academic study.<br/><br/>Throughout the degree you can also develop transferable skills for roles in engineering, industry and technology including:<br/><br/>Scientific computation and modelling<br/>Coding and data analysis<br/>Logical reasoning and analysis<br/>Presentation and communication with clarity<br/>Project and time management
