This course is designed for talented UK students with an interest in arts and humanities subjects, but whose personal circumstances make achieving our usual entry requirements difficult.<br/><br/>Through a range of engaging modules spanning the arts and humanities, the foundation year gives you an opportunity to develop key skills such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and digital capability.<br/><br/>Your foundation year tutors will support you to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence for undergraduate study.<br/><br/>During the foundation year you will be a full member of the university, with all the opportunities this offers, including the same accommodation options as direct entry students.<br/><br/>On successful completion of the course, you will progress directly to your undergraduate course, chosen from the following courses:<br/>- American and Canadian Studies<br/><br/><br/>- Archaeology<br/><br/><br/>- Art History and Visual Culture<br/><br/><br/>- Classics and Ancient History<br/><br/><br/>- Contemporary Chinese Studies<br/><br/><br/>- Cultural and Creative Industries<br/><br/><br/>- English<br/><br/><br/>- Film and Screen Studies<br/><br/><br/>- History<br/><br/><br/>- International Media and Communications<br/><br/><br/>- Liberal Arts<br/><br/><br/>- Modern Languages (Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Serbian/Croatian, Portuguese)<br/><br/><br/>- Music<br/><br/><br/>- Philosophy<br/><br/><br/>- Theology and Religion<br/><br/><br/>Note: some degrees combine these subjects with subjects outside of the Faculty of Arts. These joint honour degrees are not currently available for Arts and Humanities Foundation Year progression. Your tutors will guide you through your choices during the foundation year.
