There’s a global need for real-world understanding of crime, criminals and punishment.<br/><br/>On this course, you’ll explore crime and deviance from an interdisciplinary perspective, combining criminological and psychological perspectives. You’ll study:<br/><br/><br/>- the wider social and structural issues associated with crime<br/><br/><br/>- the ‘inner’ psychological workings of people.<br/><br/><br/>In your final-year project, you’ll learn to formulate criminological and/or psychological questions, plan how to answer them and conduct your own research.<br/><br/>Our research underpins our teaching. You’ll learn from faculty actively involved in research into areas including:<br/><br/><br/>- (violent) extremism, online extremism/terrorism and counter-terrorism policy<br/><br/><br/>- hate crime policy, gender/disability and victimisation<br/><br/><br/>- women who kill, gender and crime, race and crime<br/><br/><br/>- capital punishment, cultural and historical criminology.<br/><br/><br/>As a graduate, you’ll have critical thinking, research methods (for example, interviews and document analysis) and quantitative methods (for example, large survey design) skills for a wide range of careers.<br/><br/>**About Sussex**<br/><br/>Our courses, research, culture and campus aim to stimulate, excite and challenge.
