History PhD

Our outstanding research output – along with our expertise in social, cultural, economic, transnational, environmental and digital history – makes Sussex an excellent choice for pursuing a PhD in History.<br/><br/>Our faculty research, teach and write about history in Britain, Europe and across the globe. This means you’ll be supervised by leading practitioners in your field. <br/><br/>We welcome research proposals in all aspects of:<br/><br/><br/>- early modern and modern European history<br/><br/><br/>- British history since 1500<br/><br/><br/>- American history<br/><br/><br/>- digital history<br/><br/><br/>- global history<br/><br/><br/>- the history of science and the environment<br/><br/><br/>- the history of North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.<br/><br/><br/>We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. We’ll make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the courses, services and facilities described in this prospectus.
