Linguistics PhD

We offer research supervision in a wide range of subdisciplines of English language and linguistics. We welcome projects on any variety of English and are able to supervise the description and analysis of a range of languages.<br/><br/>We particularly welcome applications in the areas of:<br/><br/><br/>- descriptive grammar (including typological approaches) and/or theoretical syntax<br/><br/><br/>- discourse analysis (especially political and media discourse, discourse of identity, corpus linguistic approaches)<br/><br/><br/>- language variation and change<br/><br/><br/>- morphology, phonology, orthography<br/><br/><br/>- pragmatics (including intercultural pragmatics and im/politeness)<br/><br/><br/>- semantics, lexicology, (meta)lexicography<br/><br/><br/>- stylistics.<br/><br/><br/> We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision.
