Guest lectures and seminars are organised on a regular basis with industry specialists. Where possible, visits to local businesses, attendance at industry conferences and direct involvement in industry projects will be used as integral aspects of module and programme delivery.<br/><br/>CAREERS<br/><br/>The BSc (Hons) Business Technology has been designed to produce graduates withmultidisciplinary skills that enable them to work in any modern business. Graduates will therefore be of interest to almost all businesses, particularly those with a need to employ someone who can analyse and understand how their business works and how best use modern business technology to help the business develop and grow. Graduates have found employment with large organisations such as HewlettPackard, Ernst & Young, Pernod Ricard, Virgin Bank, and McLaren Software as well as with many companies in the small business sector.<br/>Business Technology graduates should be able to operate in roles, including:<br/>• Business Systems Analyst<br/>• Data Analyst<br/>• Project Manager<br/>• Technical Support Specialist<br/>• Systems Administrator<br/>• Business Intelligence Analyst<br/>• Data Analytics Specialist<br/>• Business Technology Consultant<br/>• Software Tester<br/>• Technology Trainer<br/>• Teacher<br/>• Mobile Business Adviser<br/><br/>MODULES<br/><br/>Year 3<br/>You will improve your knowledge on business systems analysis, project management, and recent advancements in areas such as business intelligence and information security management.<br/>12-month Sandwich Placement (optional)<br/>Between years 3 and 4, you may undertake a placement on a full-time basis over a minimum 36 weeks duration, leading to a sandwich degree award<br/>Year 4<br/>You will conduct an individual research project and study key strategic level aspects of business technology. <br/><br/>ASSESSMENT METHOD<br/><br/>The course delivers a combination of technology and business-related modules in every year, some of which are designed around accredited material from <br/>organisations such as Microsoft, Cisco and the British Computer Society, affording you the opportunity to supplement academic studies with professional certification, if you so desire. The main teaching instruments are lectures, tutorials and laboratory work. Classes are divided into smaller groups for laboratory work and tutorials. Seminars and group work are used where appropriate.
