Weymouth and Kingston Maurward College, brings together two Further and Higher Education colleges to make one strong, responsive and ambitious organisation with the vision, resources and expertise to best support the evolving and growing skills demands in the region and beyond. <br/><br/>Located on the stunning Jurassic Coast and the beautiful Dorset countryside, our campuses offer a diverse range of courses, training and CPD that cater to a wide array of interests, career paths and business needs.<br/><br/>Across our two campuses we offer full and part-time higher education courses, with Weymouth focussing on vocational courses such as art, media, performing arts, health and social care, sport and public services and Kingston Maurward specialising in land-based courses covering subjects such as agriculture, wildlife, ecology and conservation. <br/><br/>Together, we focus on the best interests of students, staff and employers in our local community and beyond, with industry-standard facilities, experienced teaching staff and outstanding support in a diverse, vibrant and welcoming environment. <br/><br/>This programme is a Top Up course offered at the Kingston Maurward campus in Animal Behaviour, Welfare and Conservation in partnership with Bournemouth University. It is designed to provide clear career based pathways at BSc (Hons) level into key aspects of the animal industry.<br/><br/>Core units on the programme provide a fundamental basis for the development of skills and understanding in Human-Animal Interactions and Animal Behaviour, that are relevant to both husbandry and conservation. Alongside this the programmes develops skills for employment within the industry, or further study or research at postgraduate level.<br/><br/>The programme leads to a full BSc (Hons) and uses specialist units to develop a clearer understanding the purpose of animal collections within current ethical, legislative and societal constructs, or can develop skills and understanding of studying animals in the wild and their conservation. Alongside this is the development of skills and knowledge to successfully manage whole collections of species to maintain welfare or understand the practicalities of animal conservation in practice.<br/><br/>Modules<br/><br/>Students will study modules in the following topics:<br/>Individual Research Dissertation, Applied Anthrozoology, Animal Cognition. Student may choose two from the following options Advanced Collections Management, The Role of the Modern Collection, Behavioural Ecology and Wildlife Population Recovery.
