The new BTEC Higher National in Computing for England is designed to address an increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5, thereby providing students with a clear line of sight to employment or to progression to a degree at Level 6. <br/><br/>This course is an approved Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ): HTQs are an alternative to apprenticeships or degrees. They may suit you if you want a more practical, employer-led study programme. HTQs are approved against occupations standards decided by employers.<br/><br/>The course is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. The BTEC HND in Computing for England will equip students with the computing skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary for a range of careers including network engineering, software engineering, games design, security and applications development. <br/><br/>On completion of the course students will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. They will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.<br/><br/>In addition to the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the study of the computing sector, this course will give students the experience that will prepare them for further study or employment in a related area.
