Why do you want to study this course or subject?

Law is a subject that has, in recent years, become of particular interest to me. Though law is an academic subject, it requires practical application. It is this and the fact that law permeates through every area of life that makes it such a compelling area to me. After attending an open day session about this course, I am even further enthused about the prospect of studying at Coventry University. The opportunities available to students interest me greatly. I am particularly interested in the International Law aspect of the course. My future plan sees me working internationally in a commercial setting or working as a Barrister in the international legal market. I believe this course offers me the means to make my goals a reality.

How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?

I am currently studying Business Foundation at Coventry University College. I believe the knowledge that I will gain from this course, as well as my current understanding and passion for Law as a subject, will make me an excellent candidate for this course. My current skillset and passion for learning would aid me greatly on this course. I am an eager debater; I enjoy the pressure that comes with public speaking and I pride myself on both my written and spoken English. I also have excellent time management and organisational skills; I have a strong work ethic and am highly motivated in both the workplace and in an educational setting. Evidence of this being that I have worked full time whilst continuing my education in my apprenticeship, and having retained this role at the University of Warwick whilst studying my foundation degree.

What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?

Since leaving school, I have worked at the University of Warwick full time as a Marketing Assistant Apprentice and now on a part-time basis as a Marketing and Events Assistant. This has given me the opportunity to witness and understand the inner workings of a business first hand. During my time at Warwick, I have also been able to witness law in practice and how these laws affect people on a day-to-day basis. This continued employment allows me to put everything I learn from my foundation course into practice whilst giving me an even further understanding and advantage in a business setting. I am an avid reader of both fictional books and academic/news articles; reading fiction is a hobby of mine whereas I value reading news articles in more of a professional sense. These articles and news stories keep me up to date with current affairs. I believe that it is of vital importance to be aware of what is happening within the world - and this is a responsibility I take very seriously. I bring both a strong and energetic presence to everything that I do. I feel that on this course, I would be in an excellent position to share both experiences, knowledge and a common ground of passion with my cohort in order to make both my own and other students' experiences as valuable as possible. This is an exciting prospect for me, and one I hope I will be able to act upon in partnership with Coventry University.
