You’ve set your sights high. You want a course that connects you with up-to-the minute ideas and discussions. We’ve designed our full-time Business with Economics degree to match that ambition. Based in Cambridge, you’ll be at the forefront of current issues and challenges in economics. And you won’t just learn in the lecture theatre. There’s the chance to get involved in extracurricular activities, debating big ideas such as the minimum wage, capitalism and Brexit, and choose to gain valuable work experience with a placement year.

You know there’s more to economics than meets the eye. Beyond the theory, there is the space where economics collides with the world – and there’s never just one way of looking at things. Economics isn’t just about the numbers. It’s about making sense of those numbers and understanding how things work and change across industries.

The course explores specific disciplines within a broader context, studying accounting and mathematics, statistics and econometrics, micro- and macroeconomics, as well as project management, environmental approach to business, EU economy and international trade, all in relation to organisation’s behaviour and performance and the impact on our lives.

Using the skills and knowledge you’ll learn with us will make you a desirable graduate, in demand by strategic companies and with capacity to thrive. But why choose university instead of diving into the workforce straight away? Studying economics at university, rather than trying to do it on the job, gives you the space and support you need to grasp new ideas on your own terms. As the course progresses, you’ll establish areas of interest that you can go on to develop in your final project. This freedom to explore is how complex knowledge becomes enjoyable and inspiring.

One of the best things about studying economics at ARU is the community – you will be studying alongside other switched on people with buckets of enthusiasm and the drive to tackle big, divisive topics that are so influential right now. Our group ‘Economics in the pub’ where casual debate on big ideas like minimum wage, Brexit, fractional reserve banking and issues with capitalism are given historical and theoretical context, beyond what you might discuss in the classroom.
