Fashion with Foundation Year BA (Hons)

We are award winners in fashion innovation. Our Fashion community supports experimentation, exploration and the application of traditional and contemporary techniques, informing creative solutions for a more considered fashion future. From concept to realisation our students experiment, interrogate, and develop design practises appropriate to their individual design philosophy. We will creatively discover design practise, cutting edge digital fashion technology, craftmanship, product development and presentation. Our students will explore connections between concepts of dress, fashion, and the body as a site for artistic expression. <br/><br/>The social, ethical and environmental contexts of fashion are critical forces: they are central to course debate and practice. How we understand fashion’s impact will inform creative solutions and help students to become effective change makers for a more sustainable and inclusive world. IFY is designed to provide and accessible route into higher education for students who may not have the academic qualifications needed for admission onto the degree course. This includes students from non-traditional academic backgrounds, such as those without standard qualifications, individuals returning to study after time in employment, or those whose education may have been disrupted.<br/><br/>Students enrolled on the IFY will be a part of a cohort with other students in IFY courses across our Fashion and Textiles courses. You will build confidence and develop collaborative, reflective, and communication skills, supporting both academic success and future professional practice.
