This BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (with Automotive and Manufacturing pathways) with Foundation Year will provide you with a broad understanding of engineering principles to prepare you for the degree. You’ll study six 20-credit modules in mathematics and engineering, as well as develop practical skills to put your learning into practice. If you successfully complete this foundation year, you’ll progress onto our new BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (with Automotive and Manufacturing pathways).. From September 2026, our Engineering degrees have been reimagined, with a unique and industry-focused approach. You will not have traditional lectures or be assessed by exams; instead you will learn through practical-based tasks that respond to real-life engineering problems.<br/><br/>Our new reimagined degrees are designed with your future in mind. Key features include project-based learning delivered in 30-credit blocks, which means that you will focus on one module at a time across a 6-week period and apply learning to practical real-life scenarios. You won’t learn through traditional lectures or conventional exams and focus on developing employability skills which will be assessed through competency-based assessments. This innovative approach ensures you’ll gain the practical experience and capabilities that employers are looking for, so that you graduate ready for industry.
