This program focuses on the technical, creative, and professional aspects of video game development, preparing students for careers in one of the most innovative and fast-growing industries.<br/>Through a blend of advanced technical training and project-based learning, students will explore key areas such as:<br/>● Game design and mechanics: Refining gameplay systems, balancing, and interactive storytelling to enhance user engagement.<br/>● Advanced programming: Deepening expertise in game programming, including AI, physics, and optimization techniques using industry-standard tools and engines.<br/>● 3D modelling and animation: Enhancing proficiency in creating detailed assets and immersive environments for modern gaming platforms.<br/>● Emerging technologies: Investigating new trends such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and procedural generation.<br/>● Professional development: Building leadership, teamwork, and project management skills through collaborative projects and live industry briefs.<br/>● Independent game development: Developing a comprehensive capstone project that showcases individual creativity, technical skill, and professional readiness.<br/>With a focus on both technical precision and creative innovation, the course provides opportunities for students to work on real-world projects, connect with industry professionals, and build a portfolio that demonstrates their expertise to potential employers.<br/>Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Video Game Development (Top-Up) are equipped to pursue careers as game developers, designers, programmers, or artists. They are also well-prepared for entrepreneurial ventures or further study at the postgraduate level, with the skills to excel in a competitive and rapidly evolving global industry.<br/><br/>After the Top-Up students will be able to progress into Masters degrees in Game/Film or employment in a range of job roles including games developer, 3D modeller, games programmer, level designer, sounds designer (games) and script writer, video editor, runner, lighting technician, sound technician (film).<br/><br/>In 2024 we were awarded an exceptional 94% National Student Survey (NSS) rating.
