The accounting and finance focus becomes more pronounced in the second and third years of the course, where a number of more advanced modules in financial reporting, management accounting, asset management, auditing and taxation will be offered.

There are two things that are unique about studying accounting and finance at King’s: one is the strong grounding in a broad, social science-based approach to learning; the other is a keen emphasis on the way in which financial careers are being reshaped by technological innovation. This dual focus on social science and technological innovation translates into a concern to cultivate accounting and finance graduates that are socially rounded and technologically adept.

During the third year of the programme, you will have the opportunity to undertake a year in industry, working in an organisation in the UK or overseas. Through a placement, students can develop personal and professional skills, gain practical experience and apply theories, concepts and academic knowledge from their studies to real-world issues within a global business context. Whilst all students are responsible for securing their own placement and such opportunities can never be guaranteed, our dedicated Global Placements Team provides extensive placement support to guide students through the process.

This programme is accredited by ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), ICAS (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland), ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), and CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), giving students a head start in their professional careers.

Graduates are eligible to apply for exemptions from four ACCA exams: Business and Technology (BT), Management Accounting (MA), Financial Accounting (FA), and Corporate and Business Law (LW).
