The European Studies (German pathway) BA is an interdepartmental study course that allows you to study Modern Europe from a German perspective. You will study the politics, history, language and contemporary culture of Germany. This will prepare you for the third year, which is typically taught and examined in German at Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin our current German partner.

Scottish Higher

Must be a combination of three Scottish Highers and two Scottish Advanced Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject.

Access to HE Diploma

Applicants must either offer an academic qualification equivalent to A-Level grade A in German for standard pathway, or, take the DELF or DALF (minimum DELF B2). No German required for the Ab Initio pathway. The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

33 points overall or an aggregate score of 16 from three Higher Levels. There is no required subject for the Ab Initio pathway. Must include grade 5 in Higher Level German for the standard pathway. The total point score of 33 includes TOK/EE.
