**Advance your professional and academic development by exploring contemporary and critical issues about young children and their learning.**<br/><br/>Take a whole child approach to the study of children and the issues that affect them and their families.<br/><br/>As part of this course, you’ll:<br/><br/><br/>- Specialise your study through one of two distinct routes - Early Years and Children & Young People<br/><br/><br/>- Choose the Early Years route if you want to focus on applying a critical lens to young childrens education and care within a variety of settings<br/><br/><br/>- Choose the Children & Young People route if you’re interested in focusing on critically examining concepts, contexts and practice related to childhood<br/><br/><br/>- Recognise and champion every child. Using the latest research you’ll explore the theoretical and conceptual terrain of childhood to inform and develop your own practice<br/><br/><br/>- Study modules designed to highlight the importance of the childs voice and childrens participation<br/><br/><br/>**Find out more**<br/><br/>Take a holistic approach and recognise children as active social agents and meaning makers with the ability to both interpret and shape their social worlds.<br/><br/>**Diverse perspectives**<br/>You’ll explore contemporary issues about childrens and young peoples social, political, cultural and educational lives in a global context. We have students from a variety of professional backgrounds on the course which encourages diverse perspectives in class discussions.<br/><br/>We draw on ideas from a wide variety of academic disciplines including history, geography philosophy, psychology, sociology and anthropology. You’ll gain a broad and more developed view of the sector and children and young people’s needs.<br/><br/>**Flexible learning**<br/>You can study this course over one, two or three years.
