*Subject to approval.<br/><br/>**The DipHE Digital Innovation and Development programme provides learners with a gateway to employment within the computing industry; it is aimed at providing the fundamental skills for a broad range of roles in the dynamic and fast-evolving field of online, mobile and virtual reality development.**<br/><br/>It provides post further education learners and existing software developers, electronics engineers and electronic media developers with the fundamental skills to work in industries that combine software, web, mobile and virtual reality skills to develop new and innovative interactive solutions for a wide range of industries and applications. Key things you will learn within the course are:<br/><br/>• The development of browser and server-based software solutions that are delivered through the internet.<br/>• The production of apps that function on mobile devices such as mobile phones, smart watches and tablets.<br/>• The design and creation of responsive virtual reality worlds that can accessed through mobile and specialist VR hardware.<br/>• The design and construction of effective human computer interfaces for web-based applications, mobile devices and virtual reality.<br/><br/>The course is designed to take a learner with limited experience in the field computing to being skilled in the techniques required for them to work in the areas of virtual reality, augmented reality and mobile applications development industries, key elements the qualification focuses on include:<br/><br/>Creative problem solving is core: through the course of study learners will develop problem solving skills that allow them to meet the needs of clients and organisations that require software to be developed to meet specific requirements.<br/><br/>Client focused development: to produce interesting and engaging mobile, VR and AR experiences learners will throughout the course develop the ability to be innovative and imaginative in designing software solutions that are built around the client.<br/><br/>Learning by doing: learners will work individually and in groups to develop software products and experiment in practical labs to extend their learning beyond the theoretical elements of the subject.<br/><br/>Security is key: within the course there is a strong focus on the requirements to create systems that are safe to use in a VR environment and work securely across networks and the internet creating systems that protect user data during transmission and storage and be compliant with current legislation.<br/><br/>Industry relevant: Work undertaken students will be carefully aligned with the needs of industry through the colleges Institute of Technology and has been informed by current industry trends and methods of operation.

A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points from: GCE A and AS Levels with at least one subject at A Level BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject (for example Beauty Therapy, Health and Social Care) Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher T Levels Plus GCSE English – Grade C/4 or above GCSE Maths – Grade C/4 or above Level 3 Massage desirable – this can be completed alongside the course to allow for advanced massage techniques completion of the qualification *For mature applicants, some experience may be taken in lieu of A Levels/BTECs NARIC confirmed equivalent of 48 UCAS tariff points. Applicants will need to undertake a DBS criminal record check to study on this programme.
