English and Creative Writing Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - BA (Hons)

BA (Hons) English and Creative Writing at Manchester Met lets you combine your love of reading with your passion for writing. You’ll study literature across genres, cultures and time periods, while also learning to craft your own stories, poems, scripts or digital pieces.

From the start, you’ll be taught by award-winning poets, novelists, screenwriters and digital creators from the Manchester Writing School – one of the most successful writing schools in the UK. We specialist in the development of writing talent across a wide range of established and new forms, from prose fiction, screenwriting, and poetry, to digital art, spoken word and writing for computer games.

You’ll take part in workshops, expand your skills across different forms like prose, poetry, script and digital writing, and develop your own unique creative voice. Alongside your writing practice, you’ll explore English literature in all its forms, from the Renaissance to the present day, and consider literature’s relationships to film, art, and popular culture.

With us, you’ll cultivate advanced creative and critical skills. By the time you graduate, you’ll understand both the craft of writing and the cultural forces that shape it, giving you the tools, confidence and creativity to build your future in the literary world and beyond.
