BSc (Hons) Games Design provides you with the skills you need to become a games designer in the fast-paced modern games industry. This is a hands-on course and from the very start you’ll be designing and coding games as you prepare for an exciting career at the cutting-edge of interactive digital content.<br/><br/>You’ll study across the School of Digital Arts and the Department of Computing and Mathematics with access to our state-of-the-art facilities as you develop the coding and player-centric design skills you’ll need to create games, as well as the required specialist games design techniques. You’ll study all types of industry-relevant games making software, from the programming of game mechanics to high-level design using industry standard game engines. Alongside this, you’ll learn about scene and level composition, the production of game prototypes, and the processes used to design and code games in industry, giving you a well-rounded skill set for your future career.<br/><br/>The course is designed to ensure direct relevance to the computer games industry, and to provide you with opportunities to showcase your work to potential employers. Other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to GCE A level are also considered. A maximum of three A level-equivalent qualifications will be accepted towards meeting the UCAS tariff requirement. AS levels, or qualifications equivalent to AS level, are not accepted. The Extended Project qualification (EPQ) may be accepted towards entry, in conjunction with two A-level equivalent qualifications. IB Diploma with minimum 26 points overall or 104 UCAS Tariff points from Higher Level. If you plan to meet the Level 2 course requirements through your IB Diploma you will need to achieve Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 5 in English and Mathematics
