You’ll find undergraduate courses at NTC can open many doors – to ministry, community work or continued education. In fact, recent graduates have gone on to find roles in some fascinating settings, in Britain and abroad. To give you greater flexibility, all of our courses are modular. This means the course can form a qualification in its own right or it can be used to build credits in your ‘learning account’. These credits can then go towards an award from the college.

Full-time and flexible part-time routes are available. Full-time study is for three years and up to six years part-time. This is a great pathway for those looking to develop a vocation in teaching or ministry, or those simply wanting to study theology.

Close to forty different nationalities are represented in the College’s diverse student body. NTC welcomes students from outside the UK, either for full courses or for Study Abroad periods, and the presence of a variety of cultures enriches the life of the whole community. Nazarene Theological College is an approved partner of The University of Manchester, delivering programmes developed by Nazarene Theological College, approved by and leading to an award of the University of Manchester.

Each course has a combination of ‘required units’ and ‘elective units’. The ‘required units’ make sure that the core elements are in place. The ‘elective units’ allow you to choose areas of particular interest from the full range of units on offer. Although all ‘required units’ are available each year, many ‘elective units’ are available on a two-year cycle. Students will receive a minimum of 360 credits while on this course.

The BA (Hons) in Theology (Counselling) is a unique UK-based programme that integrates professional counselling training with an exploration of faith, religion, and social justice. Students will pursue rigorous academic studies while gaining valuable placement experience. The result is a professionally-ready graduate who is able to integrate personal, social, and theological reflection into counselling practice.
Students combine their studies with a practical placement in their second and third years. In placement, students will evaluate their own counselling and professional practice and demonstrate professional counselling competence by completing 100 hours of supervised practice as part of their portfolio.

The placement is credit-bearing in Level 5 and Level 6. In Level 5, the placement is in the spring term after the student has demonstrated readiness to practice. In Level 6, placement is spread across the autumn and spring terms, usually over 20 weeks (10 weeks in each semester).

The programme has been designed using the Scope of Practice and Education (SCoPEd) framework, a shared framework developed by professional counselling bodies. As a result, upon completion, graduates are able to apply for counselling membership with UK professional bodies, including the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC), and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
