Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. We particularly encourage applicants with some qualifications in mathematical and/or scientific fields. As the course contains a combination of scientific thinking, language skills, and mathematical reasoning, it may be especially suited to the personality of students who have enjoyed both mathematics/science and arts/humanities subjects. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

Candidates who have some background in Maths and Science may be interested in the cognitive/brain science and quantitative elements of the course. Candidates who prefer Arts and Humanities subjects may be interested in the historical, sociological, and literary elements of the course.
