It also covers contemporary global fashion narratives, such as gender fluidity, diversity & inclusivity, sustainability, ethical practices as well as historical contexts.**<br/><br/>**The BA (Hons) in Fashion is awarded by the Nottingham Trent University (NTU)** <br/><br/>**About the course:**<br/><br/>The Fashion degree is based at our Adams Building campus in the historic Lace Market creative quarter right at the heart of the city centre. A converted Victorian lace factory; Adams uniquely combines Nottinghams rich industrial heritage with up-to-the minute facilities. The Fashion department features industry-relevant digital technologies with Mac suites, 3D design software for pattern and manufacture and Adobe tools. <br/><br/>**YEAR1/LEVEL 4:**<br/><br/>-Visual Communication for Fashion - 30 credits<br/>-Fashion in Context - 30 credits<br/>-Conceptual Form - 30 credits <br/>-Exploring Garment Design and Construction - 30 credits<br/><br/>**YEAR 2/LEVEL 5:**<br/><br/>-Commercial Practice - 60 credits - <br/>-Professional Fashion Practice - 60 credits (includes Studio Practice and Work Placement elements)<br/><br/>**YEAR 3/LEVEL 6:**<br/><br/>-Contemporary Fashion Practice - 60 credits <br/>-Final Major Project - 60 credits<br/><br/>**DIRECT ENTRY TO YEAR 3/LEVEL 6**<br/><br/>Students who have already achieved 240 academic credits by passing a full Level 5 qualification (such as a Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma or Diploma of Higher Education - DipHE) can apply for direct entry to the final year of the programme. Use Entry Point 3 on your UCAS application.<br/><br/>**Assessments:**<br/><br/>A wide range of innovative and traditional methods are used, including: practical workshops, discussions, groupwork, lectures, tutorials, project work, portfolios, essays, presentations, design journals/sketchbooks and visual assignments (such as photoshoots and catwalk events).<br/><br/>**Careers and progression:**<br/><br/>The global fashion industry offers a diverse array of opportunities. Typically, careers include positions in fashion design, buying, trend prediction, visual merchandising, garment production and technology and pattern cutting. Some graduates choose to take on freelance work, set up their own company or continue to postgraduate study.<br/><br/>Specific roles could include: fashion designer, illustrator, pattern cutter, buyer, garment technologist, visual merchandiser, trend forecaster, textile designer or fashion entrepreneur. Graduates could also consider a career in journalism, blogging, PR, marketing or education.
