This course gives you the in- depth training required to be a professional actor and creative artist. It seek to re-imagine actor training for the 21st Century and look afresh at the skills a modern actor requires. The programme has strong industry connections and is, based in a working theatre – Tobacco Factory Theatres in Bristol where you can gain experience of industry level practice with working practitioners. The core of the programme is acting classes based on the approaches of Michael Chekov, Anne Bogart, Demidov and Laban. Movement and voice are integrated to develop a cohesive and responsive acting instrument, and this culminates in an industry trip to New York in year 2 to further explore the Viewpoints methodology. There is a strong Acting for Camera component that runs over the three years and forms the basis for acquiring the skills required for microphone work and motion capture. Year 2 explores different acting styles from the naturalistic to heightened and new forms of theatre and ends with you creating a new piece of performance. The third year is focused around 7 productions directed by professional directors and staffed by fully professional creative teams. Each student appears in 4.
