You’ll consider the contemporary nature of health and illness, as well as collaborative approaches to delivering child and family-centred care. You’ll graduate as a reflective, competent, compassionate and employable registered children’s nurse.<br/><br/>**How You Learn**<br/><br/>On this course you’ll learn from academic staff who have a variety of clinical expertise and experience. We blend theory and clinical practice experience, giving you the opportunity to practice what you learn in both simulated and real-world settings.<br/><br/>Nurses are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. You’ll have the chance to learn and collaborate with students from other health and social care courses, helping you deliver child and young person-centered care and younand family-centred care. <br/><br/>**Key Themes**<br/><br/>In the first year you’ll establish the fundamentals of nursing practice, integrating core skills and knowledge through varied clinical experiences, with opportunities to learn about caring for people across the lifespan.<br/><br/>In your second year you’ll develop these skills by exploring the complexities of care across different age groups, including the needs of carers and families. <br/><br/>In your final year you’ll consolidate your nursing knowledge and skills by leading and managing care in clinical practice – preparing you for your first newly qualified role in children’s nursing. <br/><br/>**Applied learning**<br/><br/>**Work Placements** <br/><br/>You’ll gain real-world experience in care delivery via clinical placements from our designated placement circuit. This includes a range of hours and shifts in line with, and as experienced by registered nurses. <br/><br/>You’ll be supervised and supported by practice supervisors, practice assessors, link lecturers and academic assessors – enabling you to learn and safely achieve proficiency and autonomy in your professional role. <br/><br/>We’ll ensure the practice-based learning element of your course complies with the requirements of the Professional and Statutory Regulatory Body (PSRB) – which governs the child nursing profession. So by the end of your course, you’ll have the opportunity to show you meet the requirements to register as a children’s nurse.<br/><br/>**Networking opportunities**<br/><br/>In your first year we host a welcome event so you can meet our practice learning partners, engaging with opportunities to further your career planning and development. <br/><br/>You’ll have the opportunity to attend our onsite careers event and speak to our practice learning partners about employment opportunities and career pathways.<br/><br/>And each year we have a small number of global partnership enrichment opportunities, which have strict eligibility criteria.

From A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications. We do not accept AS levels. For example: BBB at A Level, DDM in BTEC Extended Diploma, Merit overall from a T level qualification with B from Core, or combination of qualifications (which may include general studies). Other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to GCE A level are also considered including CACHE.

Approved Access to HE Diploma in health studies, health science, social sciences or nursing. Normally we require 15 of the level 3 credits to be graded at distinction level.
