Youll learn how to create and manage successful events that can contribute positively to social and economic development, building your confidence throughout the three years as you progress from working at events to eventually managing and producing them.<br/><br/>Youll be encouraged to apply your vocational and academic knowledge to plan, design, and deliver events - gaining essential skills and a clear progression to employment opportunities in the event section, such as the management of festivals, trade shows, civic events, sporting spectacles, weddings, and conferences.<br/><br/>Youll learn from a team of leading academics and practitioners with strong experience in the event sector and strong industry links to regional, national and international events. You can also benefit from a mentoring programme with course graduates, who now work in various roles across the industry.<br/><br/>There are many opportunities to gain experience beyond the course, such as attending guest lectures, participating in University events, and taking advantage of multiple work experience opportunities. And youll be studying in the heart of Southampton, a key events hub on England’s south coast.<br/><br/>If you’re looking to study our event management degree but don’t have the relevant qualifications or experience, the business and law foundation year will help you develop the core skills and knowledge to progress. Our course and placements teams will help you find the perfect industry placement in your chosen field. <br/><br/><strong>Who is this course for?</strong><br/>This course is ideal for students who want to build a career within the event sector. Previous students have studied a wide variety of subjects during school or college. The unifying theme among our students is a passion for creating and managing exciting events, regardless of previous experience or study.<br/><br/>We welcome international students who wish to study this global sector at a UK university. We also support mature students who may have previously worked on events and now wish to formalise their experience with a degree qualification. Mature students may also include those with experience in a different sector who are now seeking a career change.<br/><br/><strong>What does this course lead to?</strong><br/>Youll graduate from this course with the essential skills needed for a wide range of career destinations, including the management of festivals, trade shows, civic events, sporting spectacles, weddings and conferences.<br/><br/>Our graduates have gone on to work with Festival Republic, Hemming Group, British Sailing, Camp Bestival, Hanson Wade, Download Festival, Collaborate Global, Silent Disco King, and Sony Music Entertainment among many others.<br/><br/>Our focus on transferable skills means that many of our graduates have also built successful careers in other sectors such as marketing, project management, business development, and media. Graduates also progress to further study at postgraduate level, or start their own companies.
