It’s completely practical, powered by a unique partnership between News Associates, the UK’s top journalism training school and St Mary’s University. Together, we offer the perfect mix of real newsroom experience and excellent campus facilities.

From day one, you’ll be doing journalism. Our hands-on approach means you’ll develop the skills, confidence and creativity you need to thrive in today’s fast-moving media industry and because our degree is fully accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), you’ll graduate with a university degree and the industry-standard NCTJ Diploma in Multimedia Journalism – a massive advantage when applying for jobs in such a competitive industry.

Your classroom? A working London newsroom with state-of-the-art facilities where you’ll build your portfolio, grow your network, and learn how the industry really works. St Mary’s University, just minutes away, offers world class sports and gym facilities, a library, computer suites, the students’ union bar, campus accommodation, and other student support services.

Every summer, we offer up to £1,000 to help you complete a work placement or launch your own journalism project. Want to report from another country? Create a multimedia documentary? Bring a bold new idea to life? We’ll help you make it happen.

You’ll also hit the ground running with an iPad provided on your first day, giving you everything you need to write, film, edit and publish wherever you are. We also cover the cost of your NCTJ registration and assessment.

Our guest speakers are some of the biggest names in the industry – from Emily Maitlis to Alex Crawford, Victoria Derbyshire, Tony Gallagher and Ranvir Singh. Plus, our annual journalism festival and regular field trips to places like Parliament, the Law Courts and Sky News mean you’ll always be close to the action.

As the media evolves, so do we. You’ll explore everything from print, broadcast and production to podcasts, social media, data journalism and more. Our newsroom features a full broadcast studio with a green screen, autocue and podcasting mics for you to experiment with anytime.

You’ll also master key journalistic principles including media law, ethics and research – the foundation of great reporting.

And if you’re passionate about sport, we’ve got you covered. Every trainee has the chance to specialise in sports journalism, delivered in association with the UK’s leading sports content agency, Sportsbeat.

Classes take place in our School of Journalism & News Associates newsroom in Twickenham (TW1 3LP), just a short 15-minute walk from the St Mary’s University campus where you have access to student facilities.
