FdSc Sports Therapy aims to provide you with a diverse range of knowledge related to the disciplines such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and injury.<br/><br/>You will gain an in depth knowledge of the body and injuries through the modules such as Sports Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Sports Injuries and Exercise Physiology. You will gain an understanding of therapy related to the disciplines of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and injury. The Foundation Degree develops specific practice from this base into an understanding of sports injury and rehabilitation. You will develop an understanding of nutrition and exercise in relation to fitness and recovery. Stage Two will culminate in a project allowing you to extend your own interest in the field, while also acquiring and developing skills of research and investigation. You also have the opportunity to take a range of additional qualifications, e.g. RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, HSE First Aid at Work, Pitch side Trauma Care Course, PD: Approval Level 3 & 4 Industry Award in Sports Massage.<br/><br/>The main route of employment is focused on the Sports Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation industry. Graduating students will be fully equipped to work independently, with the knowledge and skills required to meet the industry standards. If, at the end of the course, students wish to develop their skills into other areas of the sport and fitness industry they are able to do so through various third-year options including joining the final year of a relevant BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree at a number of HE establishments. Or students can progress onto the final year of the BSc (Hons) Applied Sport and Health Science degree offered the University Centre Truro and Penwith.
