Discover how to nurture and help children thrive.</strong><br/><br/>The Early Childhood Studies Foundation Degree is designed for individuals currently working with or aspiring to work with young children under the age of eight. This programme provides students with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills across various areas of service provision.<br/><br/>As a student in this programme, you will learn to recognise and advocate for the uniqueness of each child by exploring the key factors that impact them and their families. You will examine childrens development, the significance of play, welfare, education, childrens rights, as well as current government legislation and policy. You will also gain a comprehensive understanding of child safeguarding, mental health, well-being, and inclusive practice approaches.<br/><br/>The course ensures that students are well-prepared with essential foundations, such as the Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies, which are embedded throughout levels 4 and 5. This preparation also paves the way for students to progress to level 6 and seek employment within the sector. Understanding the role of research in early education is crucial, and students will explore how published research influences policy and practice.<br/><br/>Students benefit from a teaching team with diverse professional backgrounds, all of whom are experts in their fields, adding depth and value to the course. Strong partnerships with local providers facilitate key placement opportunities for students. An essential component of the program involves completing 440 hours of practical placement in various educational organisations, community settings, and children’s charities. During these placements, students will have the chance to gain professional experience while monitoring and reflecting on their growth and developing their individual professional expertise, which will help tailor their career and academic progression.<br/><br/>Learning in this programme is holistic, promoting collaboration among peers and colleagues. Interactive seminars and lectures encourage discussions and debates, focusing on the development of professional dialogue.
